Edgemoor
Wooded lots, bay views, and Bellingham's most exclusive address.
About
Edgemoor
Edgemoor is where Bellingham’s old money and new arrivals with deep pockets converge on wooded lots with views of Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands. The neighborhood feels almost rural despite being only four miles south of downtown — wide streets lined with towering evergreens, properties buffered by rhododendrons and salal, and the quiet broken only by birdsong and the occasional kayaker paddling below Clark’s Point.
Community and Nature
The Bayside Swimming Club, one of only a few pools in Bellingham, sits at the center of the community and functions as an unofficial social hub during summer months. Membership often has a waitlist. The Post Point Heron Colony on the northern edge is a secluded nature sanctuary popular with birdwatchers.
The Tradeoff
The obvious tradeoff is cost: homes here seldom list below a million dollars. There is no commercial district within Edgemoor itself — residents walk or drive to Fairhaven Village for coffee, groceries, and dining. But for those who can afford it, Edgemoor offers a combination of natural beauty, quiet, and proximity to both Fairhaven and Chuckanut Drive that is unmatched in the city.
